Last year, we decided to seriously explore our dream: building a life under the Spanish sun. We rented a camper and spent a month traveling through the Valencia region. No expectations, no fixed plan — just discovering where we felt at home.

In those first weeks, we saw beautiful villages, mountains, orange groves and a coastline that left us speechless. But the moment we drove into Corbera, something clicked. The peace, the space, the warmth of the village… it felt like coming home to a place we had never been before.

That’s where the decision was made. We wanted this life. A life where we no longer had to rush. No more working because we had to. No more constant pressure and stress. Instead: lightness, freedom, the outdoors, good food (and yes, especially the tapas), the mountains around us and a rhythm that finally felt like ours.

We sold our home in the Netherlands and went for it.

What surprised us the most? How friendly and helpful the Spanish people are. Everyone took the time to help, whether we were in a shop, trying to understand a form or simply asking for directions. You can feel that people here live with intention.

Working with Match Better Valencia was a huge relief from the very first moment. Nothing was too much. No question was strange. And whenever we got stuck, we could just send a quick message — and it was taken care of.

The lawyer MBV arranged for us was amazing. Clear, involved and exactly what you need during a transition like this. It truly felt like we had a team supporting us.

Of course, emigrating is a big step. The regulations are different, sometimes complicated, and there are moments where you wonder: where do I even start? But when someone stands beside you who knows the system inside out, so much stress disappears.

It makes a world of difference when someone guides you through the right steps.

Our only regret?
That we didn’t do it years earlier.

For anyone who’s in doubt: just go for it. You gain a life you didn’t even know would fit you so well.
